NCEAR-A and ICCIDD organized Plenary session on “Food Fortification: A Sustainable Public Health strategy for control of Micronutrient deficiency: From Iodine to Iron” at IAPSMCON 2021
A plenary session on “Food Fortification: A Sustainable Public Health strategy for control of Micronutrient deficiency: From Iodine to Iron” was conducted on 21st March 2021 during 48th Annual Conference of Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSMCON 2021).
The topics covered during the session were on:
- Success story of USI in India and lessons learnt for Public Health Nutrition programs
- Role of food fortification in iron deficiency and anemia
- Scaling up of rice fortification to control anemia
- Experiences of DFS programs from states: Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat
The session reached out to various stakeholders and experts from the public health field, shared their experiences on scaling up food fortification in India, and reemphasize the importance of sustainable solutions to reduce anemia prevalence.
